Russell Glasgow, Cathy Bradly and colleagues at the Adult and Child Consortium for Health Outcomes and Delivery Science at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado have received an NIH Center grant from the National Cancer Institute to advance implementation science and cancer control (1P50CA244688-01).
DiagnoCure, Inc., a life sciences company commercializing high-value cancer diagnostic tests and delivering laboratory services, announced that the clinical utility of the PROGENSA(R) PCA3 test, developed and commercialized by its partner Gen-Probe, was confirmed in two large worldwide studies, conducted in a subset of patients in GlaxoSmithKline's REDUCE trial of dutasteride. The results demonstrate that PCA3 can help determine whether men suspected of having prostate cancer should undergo a repeat biopsy and can predict the risk of having an aggressive cancer.
It takes life-saving research and access to clinical trials to help children with cancer. The St. Baldrick's Foundation, a volunteer-driven charity dedicated to raising money for childhood cancer research, awarded an infrastructure grant of $47,000 to the Biopathology Center (BPC), housed in The Research Institute at Nationwide Children's Hospital.
Researchers at The Ohio State University are working on a new way to treat drug-resistant cancer that the ancient Greeks would approve of-only it's not a Trojan horse, but DNA that hides the invading force.
