Caris Life Sciences, a leading biotechnology company focused on fulfilling the promise of precision medicine, today announced the presentation of data from five studies that demonstrate the clinical utility of Caris Molecular Intelligence®, the company's panomic comprehensive tumor profiling service, in helping to identify targeted treatment options for patients with rare and/or aggressive tumors.
Melanoma, the most serious form of skin cancer varies in size, shape and severity, and although pathologists and researchers often intuitively differentiate between types of melanomas, the variations have never been formally quantified and documented. A project involving RENCI and researchers in the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and the departments of computer science and statistics and operations research aims to change that by using image analysis techniques to improve melanoma classification.
Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius (D), President Obama's choice for HHS secretary, "sailed through" a Senate Finance Committee confirmation hearing on Thursday, but the Senate likely will not take up the nomination until later this month because of objections for an immediate vote by several Republican members, the New York Times reports (Pear, New York Times, 4/3).
NexMed, Inc., a developer of products based on the NexACT® technology, today announced that it has completed its post hoc analysis of NM100060, the Company's topically-applied treatment for onychomycosis, commonly known as nail fungus. Based on this analysis, NexMed seeks to pursue signing a partner for further development of the product.
