New guidance to support regulations around the use of valproate in women and girls of child bearing age with epilepsy has been published by specialists from 13 UK healthcare bodies including seven Royal Colleges.
Surgeons who perform more than 25 mitral valve operations a year are more likely to perform repairs that are durable, and their patients are more likely to be alive a year after the operation, than when operations are performed by lower-volume surgeons, an Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai study has found.
New research reveals that people with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) have a higher risk of developing gout, even beyond the first years after being diagnosed with the sleep disorder. The findings are published in Arthritis & Rheumatology, an official journal of the American College of Rheumatology.
In an analysis of information on 10,463 UK patients diagnosed with colorectal cancer from 2006 to 2013, patients under the age of 50 years were more likely to initially experience non-specific symptoms before being referred to cancer specialists.
Universal Health Services, Inc. announced today that its reported net income attributable to UHS was $65.6 million, or $.67 per diluted share, during the second quarter of 2010 as compared to $80.9 million, or $.82 per diluted share, during the comparable prior year quarter. Net revenues increased 3% to $1.34 billion during the second quarter of 2010 as compared to $1.30 billion during the second quarter of 2009.
