Screening everyone for HIV in the emergency department may be superior to testing only those with apparent risk, when trying to identify patients with undiagnosed HIV infection, according to a new results by researchers at the University of Cincinnati.
According to HealthMine's research, conducted with more than 6,000 consumers enrolled in health plans in 2015, 53% of consumers said it's not easy to understand their health information, or what they need to do to maintain or improve their health. Yet, wellness programs have the potential to discover sick and at-risk members in the population; 46% of consumers with a chronic condition who were surveyed said they discovered their illness through a wellness program.
Sporting-related cervical fractures increased by 35 percent from 2000 to 2015, mainly due to an increase in cycling-related injuries, according to research presented at the 2018 Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Gastric cancer poses a significant health problem in developing countries and is typically associated with late-stage diagnosis and high mortality. A new study in The American Journal of Pathology points to a pivotal role played by the biomarker microRNA (miR)-506 in gastric cancer.
