GlaxoSmithKline and Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, Inc. announced receipt of a Complete Response letter from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the New Drug Application (NDA) for ezogabine, an investigational anti-epileptic drug being studied for the adjunctive treatment of adults with partial-onset seizures.
More women may be smoking and exposed to nicotine during pregnancy than previously thought, according to a new study by researchers from Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center in collaboration with Cradle Cincinnati.
In a study of 10 large health systems, Dartmouth investigators Carrie H. Colla, PhD, Philip P. Goodney, MD, MS, and Ellen R. Meara, PhD, and others from Dartmouth and the University of Michigan found that implementation of pilot accountable care organizations (ACOs) did not limit spending on discretionary or non-discretionary cardiovascular treatment for patients.
From 1998 to 2007, the use of CT or MRI scans in emergency departments for injury-related conditions increased about 3-fold without a similar increase in the prevalence of the diagnosis of certain life-threatening trauma-related conditions, according to a study in the October 6 issue of JAMA.
