A majority of adults in California are obese or overweight, and more than 2 million have been diagnosed with diabetes, according to a new study from the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research.
Many Australian physicians are not applying for permission to supply mifepristone to women in the country and instead are prescribing women a combination of methotrexate - a drug licensed to treat cancer patients - and misoprostol to induce a medical abortion.
Few issues are more important to the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association than translating scientific evidence into guidelines and performance measures for healthcare providers, a process we have been engaged in for several decades.
The Massachusetts Senate cast a unanimous vote today to pass legislation which will stiffen the penalties of those who assault nurses and other health care workers, one of a series of measures the state's nurses are proposing to address the growing problem of workplace violence in health care settings. The House of Representatives had passed the bill in March.
Infants of mothers with diabetes have a three- to five-fold increased risk of congenital heart defects. Such developmental defects are likely caused by a combination of genetic and environmental factors.
