A team of researchers at the University of California San Diego has developed macrophage "nanosponges" that can safely absorb and remove molecules from the bloodstream that are known to trigger sepsis.
UvA professors Cees Snoek and Marcel Worring are starting a new public-private research lab together with researchers from the Inception Institute of Artificial Intelligence Ltd. from the United Arab Emirates led by Professor Ling Shao.
The Partnership to Improve Patient Care (PIPC) today applauded Senator Reid's Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act for including strong patient-centered comparative effectiveness research (CER) language. The CER language is based on the approach taken by Senators Baucus and Conrad in their CER bill (S. 1213), which is supported by over 100 organizations across the country, representing patients, providers, people with disabilities, and minority health organizations.
The London Summit on Family Planning, co-sponsored by the U.K. government and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation with support from UNFPA and other partners, is scheduled to take place next week.
