Following the results of a study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine showing that cognitive behavioural therapy produces a 41% reduction in fatal and non-fatal first recurrent CVD events, the European Society of Cardiology believes stress management programmes should be made more widely available across Europe for patients with coronary artery disease.
The antibacterial agent triclosan has been linked with an increased risk for osteoporosis among females in the US, particularly postmenopausal women.
An international team of physicists at Los Alamos National Laboratory has succeeded in using intense laser light to accelerate protons to energies never before achieved. Using this technique, scientists can now accelerate particles to extremely high velocities that would otherwise only be possible using large accelerator facilities.
