Children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) were more likely to have been exposed to higher levels of certain air toxics during their mothers' pregnancies and the first two years of life compared to children without the condition, according to the preliminary findings of a University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health investigation of children in southwestern Pennsylvania.
A new research program has been launched to produce all the human secreted proteins in mammalian cell factories. The program aims to facilitate studies of this important class of proteins, which are involved in many human diseases.
AdMeTech Foundation, a nonprofit organization, announced today that the U.S. Congress has approved $1.6 million for funding of its groundbreaking research program aimed at developing novel imaging technologies for early prostate cancer detection, which in turn is critical for saving lives and designing customized patient care, including the most effective and the least invasive approach.
"The public and private sectors have achieved remarkable success in Africa in the battle against AIDS, and the question now is: Where do we go from here?" James Glassman, founding executive director of the George W. Bush Institute and former under secretary of state for public affairs and public diplomacy, writes in this Forbes opinion piece.
