According to a new study published Sunday, being lean may not always lead to a lower risk of heart disease and diabetes. The researchers have successfully identified a gene linked both to having a lean body and to a higher risk of metabolic diseases.
Scientists at the U.S. Department of Energy's Brookhaven National Laboratory have developed a method for correlating the results of microscopic imaging techniques in a way that could lead to improved understanding, diagnosis, and possibly treatment of a variety of disease conditions, including Alzheimer's disease. The Laboratory has filed a U.S. provisional patent application for the invention.
AnaptysBio, Inc., a privately-held therapeutic antibody platform and product company, today announced it has been awarded a contract by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), to use its proprietary somatic hypermutation (SHM) technology platform to generate novel high affinity thermally stable antibodies that could be used by the military in antibody-based biosensors, including those that can detect bioterrorist threats.
Researchers from Duke University and HSE University have succeeded in creating artificial tactile perception in monkeys through direct brain stimulation.
