Low BMI is a risk factor for CVD in hypertensive patients with diabetes, according to research presented at the ESC Congress today by Dr Takanori Nagahiro from Japan. The findings provide evidence for an obesity paradox in hypertensive patients with glucose intolerance.
Novavax, Inc. announced today positive results from the entire 1,000 subject Stage A of its two-stage pivotal study evaluating the safety and immunogenicity of Novavax's unadjuvanted 2009 A/H1N1 virus-like particle pandemic influenza vaccine.
It was a year ago that the Ebola virus outbreak in the Congo became official. And far from subsiding, just two weeks ago it became "a public health emergency of international concern". More than 2,600 cases have been confirmed and over 1,800 deaths in the affected provinces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. A third of these are children.
