Glioblastoma is an aggressive brain tumour that usually occurs in late adulthood. Just two years after diagnosis, only 13.6% of patients are still alive. Standard treatment consists of surgery, followed by radiation and chemotherapy.
To continue meeting the ever-advancing technological needs of our patients, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center has debuted MyMSK, a new mobile application. The app, compatible with iPad, iPhone, and all iOS devices, allows MSK patients to quickly and easily access their lab and radiology results, view their upcoming appointments, record their medications and symptoms in online diaries, communicate with their healthcare team, and more.
Idalia Ramos Sanchez, a longtime fighter for health equity especially as it relates to HIV/AIDS, has been appointed senior policy advisor at the National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NCMHD), National Institutes of Health (NIH).
In anticipation of the September 2011 U.N. High-level Meeting on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), low- and middle-income countries "should not only look at the lessons learned in the control of NCDs in developed countries, but also those from other areas of public health, especially AIDS, which can inform the design of an effective and sustainable response to NCDs in developing countries," Rebecca Dirks from FHI 360 and colleagues write in this PLoS Medicine Policy Forum editorial piece.
The study, published in the pre-print server medRxiv, demonstrates the presence of long-lasting neuropsychological sequelae after COVID-19, regardless of the respiratory disease's severity.
