GE Healthcare today announced the preliminary results of two Phase 3 studies of its investigational PET amyloid imaging agent, [18F]flutemetamol, where both studies met their primary endpoints. One study, in terminally ill patients who agreed to undergo brain autopsy, showed strong concordance between flutemetamol PET images and Alzheimer's disease-associated beta amyloid brain pathology.
RSB Spine, LLC, today announced that the InterPlate® C-Ti has been cleared for a new indication. When reclassification of interbody fusion devices occurred in 2007, the C-Ti was the first system cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. With this most recent announcement, the C-Ti has now become the first interbody fusion device to be cleared as an anterior cervical plate as well.
The FBI is interviewing witnesses about billing practices at Prime Healthcare Services, the hospital chain that has charged Medicare for treating elderly patients with rare medical conditions at far higher rates than other California hospitals. The FBI would neither confirm nor deny an investigation, but at least two former Prime medical coders say they were approached by the agency to discuss the chain's billing practices. ... A spokesman for Prime said the chain is unaware of an FBI probe.
