Marking its tenth anniversary year, the PATH Malaria Vaccine Initiative (MVI) today unveiled a new strategy that sets the stage for an aggressive push targeting the long-term goal of eliminating and eradicating malaria
A survey of physicians by Majestic Research found that Boston Scientific's March 15 decision to withdraw from the ICD market will have a meaningful long-term impact. Among surveyed electrophysiologists, 56% report the recent announcements and actions have negatively impacted their perceptions of the overall quality of Boston Scientific's ICD devices and 52% said that they would be less likely to use the company's devices in the future.

In a new Crossroads GPS health-care policy survey conducted in 10 states likely to have competitive Senate races and in House districts that lean Republican or are swing seats, 60 percent of independents oppose President Obama's Affordable Care Act. If this holds through 2014, then Republicans should receive another big boost in the midterms. There is, however, one issue on which independents disagree with Republicans: using the threat of a government shutdown to defund ObamaCare (Karl Rove, 9/18).
Defects in the gene that encodes the XIAP protein result in a serious immune malfunction. Their results have recently been published in Molecular Cell, a journal of international scientific repute.
