Researchers have discovered a genetic mutation associated with an inherited form of motor neuron disease in which symptoms first appear in childhood or young adulthood. The finding is slated for publication in the American Journal of Human Genetics.
The National Health Service in the UK is being put under considerable pressure by Cancer charities to widen access to a promising new class of breast cancer drug as new evidence suggests the latest treatment is far superior to Tamoxifen, the long established premier drug for women with the early stage of the disease.
The largest study till date has refuted earlier fears that link mobile phone use to brain cancer. However experts say the risk can't be ruled out.
Italian and Swiss researchers confirm that induced hyperammonaemia significantly increases daytime sleepiness in patients with cirrhosis. The findings available in the March issue of Hepatology, a journal published by Wiley-Blackwell on behalf of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, show that higher blood levels of ammonia reduced the ability of cirrhotic patients to produce restorative sleep.
