Scientists at Joslin Diabetes Center have found genetic regions that, when defective, allow the immune system to attack the pancreas - the first in a series of mis-steps that lead to type 1 diabetes. Armed with these findings, published yesterday, March 22, in the journal Immunity, the researchers are now trying to hone in on the exact genes involved, in mice and in human patients.
Adynxx, a clinical-stage pharmaceutical company developing a first-in-class platform of therapeutics to address pain at its molecular roots, announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has granted Fast Track designation to AYX1 Injection for the prevention of chronic pain.
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and the University of Michigan Health System will collaborate with emergency physicians at participating hospitals across the state to develop best practices to improve the experience and outcomes of patients receiving care in emergency departments.
"This discovery reverses food allergies in mice, and we have many people with allergies volunteering their own cells for us to use in lab testing to move this research forward," said professor John Gordon, lead scientist behind the discovery just published in the current issue of the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology.
Active Implants Corporation (AIC) today announced that it has received a CE Class III Certificate for its TriboFit® Hip System.
