Midwest Compassion Center and Dr. Alan Shackelford join forces in the fight to treat epilepsy through the use of medical cannabis at their Will County dispensary. With growing concerns over the potentially negative side effects of pharmaceuticals and their inability to provide adequate symptom control in as many as 30% of patients with seizures, Dr. Shackelford and MCC will collaborate on research with the goal of developing new treatment options for patients dealing with a debilitating illness or condition, including seizures.
The American Diabetes Association (ADA) has issued its annual Clinical Practice Recommendations to help health care providers treat people with diabetes using the most current evidence available.
Avian influenza virus H7N9, which killed several dozen people in China earlier this year, has not yet acquired the changes needed to infect humans easily, according to a new study by scientists at The Scripps Research Institute. In contrast to some initial studies that had suggested that H7N9 poses an imminent risk of a global pandemic, the new research found, based on analyses of virus samples from the Chinese outbreak, that H7N9 is still mainly adapted for infecting birds, not humans.
The National Cancer Registry of Spain for Gastroenteropancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumours (RGETNE) is the first initiative of its type in southern Europe and focuses its efforts on profiling the incidence of gastroenteropancreatic tumours, improving diagnosis and treatment efficacy, and determining the clinical profile of patients across Spain.
