There have been several studies that have connected excessive drinking to type 2 diabetes. However, there are no studies that have actually looked at the drinking patterns and frequency and diabetes. Danish researchers have thus tried to understand the connection and explore if moderate alcohol consumption has a beneficial effect on diabetes. This new study was published this week in the journal Diabetologia.
Aeolus Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced today that it has completed a $1.0 million financing with two existing institutional shareholders, both of which are affiliates of Xmark Opportunity Partners, LLC.
By testing formerly blind patients within weeks of sight restoration, Sinha and his colleagues found that subjects had very limited ability to distinguish an object from its background, identify overlapping objects, or even piece together the different parts of an object. The patients gradually improved over time, and the new study suggests that dynamic information - that is, input from moving objects - is critical to the brain's ability to learn to segregate objects from their backgrounds (a task known as visual integration).
A new British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology review examines the potential of medicinal cannabis-or medical marijuana-for helping patients with intractable epilepsy, in which seizures fail to come under control with standard anticonvulsant treatment.
Hitachi, Ltd. and Hokkaido University announced that it has obtained U.S. Food & Drug Administration 510(k) clearance on December 26, 2017 for the commercialization of "Real Time Image Gating System for Proton Beam Therapy Systems", allowing for its systems in the United States to treat patients with cutting-edge motion management together with its advanced Spot Scanning irradiation technology.
