Pharmacyclics, Inc. today announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has accepted for filing its supplemental New Drug Application (sNDA) to support the review of IMBRUVICA (ibrutinib) in the treatment of patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL) who have received at least one prior therapy for a full approval.
US physicians are often poor judges of their patients' health beliefs, according to a new study by Dr. Richard Street from Texas A&M University and Paul Haidet from The Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine, USA. However, physicians' understanding is better the more patients are involved by asking questions, expressing concerns, and stating their beliefs and preferences for care. Their analysis of how patients' health beliefs differ from their physicians' perception of these beliefs was just published online by Springer in the Journal of General Internal Medicine.
Decision Resources, one of the world's leading research and advisory firms for pharmaceutical and healthcare issues, finds that, in the U.S. and Europe, a drug that resolves tophi in less than one year would become the patient share leader in the chronic tophaceous gout patient subpopulation and would be used in the vast majority of patients who suffer severe tophaceous gout, according to surveyed U.S. and European rheumatologists.
From December 13 - 14, 2010, the "Open Access - Open Data" Conference will be taking place in Cologne. It is an international expert conference that will look closely on how the Open Access movement has developed within the last five years and what is going to happen within the next five to ten years. Additionally, the "Open Data Movement" that is gaining more and more importance will be under consideration.
