Merge Healthcare, a leading medical imaging solutions provider, today announced that its Merge China business unit has signed a Distribution Agreement with PANGAEA Technology Limited, a distributor of CCD detectors, which are an economical alternative to digital detectors, for DR systems in the Greater China area.
Advanced Biological Laboratories (ABL) announced today that DeepChek and ViroScore Suite clinical genotyping solutions are now CE-IVD (In Vitro Diagnostics) approved for commercial use in Europe and other countries that recognise CE certification.
Hepatitis B infections are among the most common infectious diseases worldwide. The disease can become chronic, and is one of the most important causes of severe diseases such as liver cancer. In the scope of an international study funded by the World Health Organization, scientists from the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research in Braunschweig determined how often the chronic infection occurs in different countries and how many people of the general population are affected. They noted strong differences between different countries.
"The United States is suspending at least $13 million of its roughly $140 million in annual aid to Mali following last month's coup in the West African nation, the State Department said on Wednesday," Reuters reports, noting the "suspension affects U.S. assistance for Mali's ministry of health, public school construction and the government's efforts to boost agricultural production."
There is change afoot in the way medicine is being taught. Rigorous course work, state of the art laboratories and demanding clinical training are necessarily at the forefront. To complement the constant updating of the technical preparation of future physicians, a movement is growing determined to produce doctors who are not only outstanding clinicians, but who are also compassionate individuals able to communicate well with patients, their families and other caregivers.
