Dako, a Danish-based world leader in tissue-based cancer diagnostics, and Omnyx, a leader in digital pathology solutions, announced today that they have entered into a three-year agreement to develop clinical algorithms for digital pathology. The aim is to support pathologists in generating even more accurate, objective and reproducible diagnostic results.
The healthcare industry is entangled in a transitory phase in which therapeutics, devices, products and services are sold into traditional care settings that are unable to keep up with the requirements placed upon it by changing demographics and consumer needs. At the same time, opportunities for new services and care, such as ambulatory, mobile, and home care, lack the appropriate level of maturity to provide robust revenue streams despite having the promise to increase healthcare delivery efficiency and reduce long term costs.
"Comparative Effectiveness will have the most significant impact on the orthopaedic industry moving forward," noted John Engelhardt in his luncheon Keynote Address today at the 6th Annual Orthopaedic Manufacturing & Technology Exposition and Conference (OMTEC) in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Engelhardt, CEO of ORTHOWORLD Inc. and Managing Member of Knowledge Ventures, LLC, emphasized that industry will be compelled to adopt the concept of comparative effectiveness throughout its business models in order to gain the efficiencies required to thrive in the future.
A team of community leaders and researchers from UCLA and RAND has been awarded the 2014 Joint Team Science Award in recognition of a 10-year effort to conduct community engaged, population-based translational science to improve care for depression in low-income areas.
