A new study indicates that higher prostate cancer death rates among black men in the US may be due to a higher risk of developing preclinical prostate cancer as well as a higher risk of that cancer progressing more quickly to advanced stages.
BioTime, Inc. announced today that it has initiated shipments of stem cell research products to its worldwide distributor, Millipore Corporation, according to the terms of the co-marketing agreement between the two companies that was announced on July 9, 2009. BioTime has shipped inventory of six ACTCellerate™ progenitor cell lines to Millipore and plans to begin shipments of additional cell lines and ESpan™ cell growth media in the next several weeks.
The American Center for Law and Justice, focusing on constitutional law, today filed an amicus brief with a federal court in Florida on behalf of 63 members of Congress and more than 70,000 Americans in support of Florida's lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the federal health care law. The Florida brief is the ACLJ's latest effort - which includes backing Virginia's legal challenge and a lawsuit of its own - contending the individual mandate forcing Americans to purchase health insurance violates the Constitution.
A new paper released by Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health reports a strong association between a high number of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and contact with the U.S. justice system.
Women diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer who have also endured previous traumatic or stressful events see their cancer recur nearly twice as fast as other women, according to a report by a University of Rochester Medical Center scientist.
