The American Cancer Society (ACS) and the GW Cancer Institute (GWCI) were recently awarded $4.25 million by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to establish a National Cancer Survivorship Resource Center. Work on the project will begin on September 30.

This expanded agreement establishes a third therapeutic target, with an option for a fourth, in the field of oncology, and it includes a two-year extension based on the application of the proprietary ArQule Kinase Inhibitor Platform (AKIP™) technology.
New survey findings released by the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) for World Osteoporosis Day show that on average, 93 percent of nearly 1,200 adults surveyed are unaware how common osteoporotic fractures are in men.
According to BBC newsreader George Alagiah, Scotland has better cancer screening procedures compared to England. Alagiah, a Sri Lankan born journalist, is 62 and is diagnosed with a stage 4 cancer of the bowel that relapsed little before Christmas. He says that his cancer would have been detected much earlier if he were being screened in Scotland rather than in England.
