Small changes in weight can make bigger differences in the blood pressure for overweight children, compared to those at normal weight, according to a new study. Researchers tracked blood pressure, height and weight of 1,113 children over time, with the longest follow-up exceeding 10 years. They then compared the children's body mass index (BMI, a measure of body weight) to national charts adjusted for age, sex and height. Kids with BMIs in the 85th percentile or higher are considered overweight.
People with diabetes are at a greater risk for the development or progression of diabetic nephropathy if they have low levels of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, report researchers.
The world's leading Alzheimer's disease researchers and clinicians will gather in Melbourne this week to agree on standardisation and validation of important diagnostic and prognostic parameters used in Alzheimer's research centres around the globe.
NanoViricides, Inc. announced today that March 29th, 2012 has been confirmed by the US FDA as the date for its initial meeting with the Company's scientists. This pre-IND meeting will focus on FluCide, designated as NV-INF-1, the Company's novel anti-influenza drug.
