Three out of five women who have given birth to a child with a congenital heart defect (CHD) - the number-one birth defect and leading killer of infants and newborns - were never tested for the defect during pregnancy. This is according to a survey just released by Little Hearts, Inc., a national organization that provides support, education, resources, networking and hope to families affected by congenital heart defects.
According to a study done in Taiwan educated women are less likely to suffer from insomnia than their less learned counterparts, but surprisingly, their male equivalents are less likely to get a good night's sleep if they have had the benefit of a good education.
The results of an independent investigator study just published in the online version of Dermatologic Surgery demonstrate that Levulan(®) Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) may reduce the rate of recurrence of squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs) in solid organ transplant recipients (SOTRs), a population with a high incidence of nonmelanoma skin cancer.
