"Innovation, science [and] technology must again become fundamental components of how we conduct development work," Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton told a "high-level meeting of international development and science experts" last week, SciDev.net reports.
In an examination of potential relationships between objective sleep measures, nocturnal sex hormone levels, and the nocturnal course of body temperature of older postmenopausal women, a study published in the December 1, 2007 issue of the journal SLEEP finds that altered levels of both sex hormones and gonadotropins may contribute to sleep disturbance in older postmenopausal women and confirm the results of previous studies indicating that higher body temperature is associated with poorer sleep quality.
Results of a new phase 2 clinical trial using technology developed at Northwestern Medicine show it is possible to induce immune tolerance to gluten in individuals with celiac disease. The findings may pave the way for treated celiac patients to eventually tolerate gluten in their diet.
GE Money, the consumer lending unit of General Electric Company, and Nautilus, Inc., a global fitness equipment leader, today announced a multi-year agreement to provide consumer financing via Nautilus' direct sales channel.
