Researchers at the Advanced Science Research Center at The Graduate Center, CUNY (CUNY ASRC) and Northwestern University have created a 4D printer capable of constructing patterned surfaces that recreate the complexity of cell surfaces.
Newer treatments for age-related macular degeneration (AMD)-including an intravitreous (into the eye) injection of a chemotherapy drug and use of a related compound approved for use against the eye disease-do not appear to be associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular complications or death when compared with existing therapies, according to a report in the October issue of Archives of Ophthalmology, one of the JAMA/Archives journals.
Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) - a condition that can lead to liver cirrhosis and cancer -; isn't typically detected until it's well advanced. Even then, diagnosis requires an invasive liver biopsy.
The rollout of vaccines against the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is expanding worldwide. However, little is known about the duration of protection offered by these vaccines. Real-world data on the kinetics of antibodies are beginning to appear, but a holistic picture of immunity duration is still not available.
