Every person has a distinct pattern of functional brain connectivity known as a connectotype, or brain fingerprint. A new study conducted at OHSU in Portland, Oregon, concludes that while individually unique, each connectotype demonstrates both familial and heritable relationships. The results published today in Network Neuroscience.
Two major health organizations in Europe and the United States are calling for closer examination of a syndrome that has been widely believed to predict the risk of developing heart disease, questioning whether it has been appropriately defined and whether it is in fact a syndrome at all.
Researchers have long been aware that the progressive loss of muscle mass and bone density is a natural part of aging. But little work has investigated how muscle tissue affects the inner and outer layers of bone microstructure.
Mothers and babies belong together -; which is why Intermountain Medical Center in Salt Lake City has launched a rooming-in program to support early bonding between mothers and newborns.
The National Hemophilia Foundation has awarded CSL Behring its 2015 Corporate Leadership Award as recognition for the company's longstanding and unwavering commitment to advancing science and improving the care of the bleeding disorders community. The award was accepted by Paul Perreault, CEO and Managing Director, CSL Limited, during the NHF Annual Spring Soiree in New York City on May 21.
