While researchers have done a good job documenting health problems associated with the high prevalence of smoking among Americans who have HIV/AIDS, it's now time to focus on how to get these smokers to kick the habit, Saint Louis University School of Public Health research finds.
CenterWatch—a leading publisher of clinical trials information—announced that it has more than quadrupled the size of its Clinical Trials Listing Service™ (CTLS). The service now lists more than 80,000 active clinical trials across a wide range of disease conditions, making it the largest online and dynamic database of global clinical trials involving new drugs and devices regulated by the Food and Drug Administration and the Department of Health and Human Services.

In this episode of the Center for Global Development's (CGD) "Global Prosperity Wonkcast," Lawrence MacDonald, vice president for communications and policy outreach at the CGD, interviews Amanda Glassman, a research fellow and director of CGD's global health program, about her recent report, Priority Setting in Health: Building Institutions for Smarter Public Spending, which "draws on the expertise of a CGD working group to offer recommendations for improving the allocation of scarce health funding, despite political and bureaucratic constraints."
