In the longest study of its kind, bariatric surgery has been shown to reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke in patients with diabetes. These results and other groundbreaking research were presented at the 2nd World Congress on Interventional Therapies for Type 2 Diabetes, hosted by NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and Weill Cornell Medical College.
Obese drivers are far less likely to wear seatbelts than are drivers of normal weight, a new University at Buffalo study has found, a behavior that puts them at greater risk of severe injury or death during motor vehicle crashes.
Kineta announced today it has been awarded its second NIH contract in twelve months - the latest focused on mining vast, existing, basic research databases with the goal of identifying new drug targets and candidates. The project will be directed at five key therapeutic areas: infectious, cardiovascular, neurological, metabolic and autoimmune diseases.
Most people know that chest pain can indicate the presence of heart disease, but less well known apparently is that shortness of breath can also be a symptom of serious cardiac problems
