A new California law set to take effect in January 2007 "provides a glimpse of the type of government price controls the drug industry fears," the Boston Globe reports.
Researchers at Johns Hopkins Medicine report that a computer program they designed may help surgeons identify and label spinal segments during real-time operating room procedures and avoid the costly and potentially debilitating consequences of operating on the wrong segment.
A new discovery about how the immune system responds to common sinus infections and asthma could explain why patients develop these issues in the first place and ultimately may lead to improved targeted therapies.
