Results from a large, prospective clinical trial add to mounting evidence that adolescent and young adult patients-aged 16 to 39 with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL)-tend to fare better when treated with high-intensity pediatric protocols than previous patients who were treated with standard adult regimens.
A new pilot study by investigators at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) found that breast cancer patients can be treated safely with a "dose-dense" regimen of standard chemotherapy agents and the antibody trastuzumab (Herceptin), a drug that has previously been shown to cause cardiac toxicity.
A French investigation published in the current issue of Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics has explored the outcome in terms of physical functioning of coronary angioplasty.
Adults are not the only ones who should focus on good heart health. One University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) primary care physician said starting heart-healthy habits at a young age can help build a future free from cardiovascular disease.
