Inflammation could contribute to bone loss in Duchenne's muscular dystrophy (DMD), a discovery made by a group of Italian researchers. Dr Anna Rufo and her colleagues found that levels of an inflammatory molecule, known as IL-6, are high in patients with DMD.
Routine mammograms performed for breast cancer screening could serve another purpose as well: detecting calcifications in the blood vessels of patients with advanced kidney disease, according to a study appearing in an upcoming issue of the Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology.
PDL BioPharma, Inc. announced today that it has completed the retirement of the remaining $54.3 million in aggregate principal of the Company's 2.75% Convertible Subordinated Notes, due August 16, 2023 (the "2023 Notes") in exchange for 8.9 million shares of common stock and $4.2 million in cash.
