At one time, many children born with congenital heart disease (CHD) suffered from issues that carried fatal prognoses.
AliveCor, Inc. announced today it has received CE Mark clearance for its automated analysis process (algorithm) to detect atrial fibrillation (AF), the most common heart rhythm disturbance and a leading cause of stroke. The latest version of the AliveECG app for users in the United Kingdom and Ireland now provides patients with real-time AF detection in electrocardiogram (ECG) recordings using the AliveCor Heart Monitor.
Although so-called clot-busting drugs are commonly used in the treatment of some patients with blood clots in the lungs, a new study conducted by researchers in Spain and the U.S. indicates the agents do not appear to be any more effective than traditional blood thinners for the majority of these patients.
Researchers last week released their work studying the pattern of alcohol use and its consequences on Americans during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
