The American Red Cross of Greater Cleveland announced today its Hero Award Luncheon, presented by PNC and proudly supported by Adcom Communications, the Cleveland Browns and Fifth Third. The event, co-chaired by Shelley Seifert, Executive Vice President, PNC and Mike Holmgren, President, the Cleveland Browns, will be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at the Renaissance Cleveland Hotel. It honors everyday heroes from the community in five categories: Life Saver, Educational, Medical, Community Volunteer and Innovation.
Pennsylvania's new five-year Outdoor Recreation Plan shows a need to change the way policy-makers and communities approach outdoor recreation in light of a changing population that is increasingly more urban, and whose children have been spending less time outdoors.
MSD reported that final results from a Phase III study of 'Victrelis', its investigational oral hepatitis C protease inhibitor, added to peginterferon alfa-2a marketed by Roche Products Limited, and ribavirin therapy were presented for the first time today as part of a late-breaker poster session at The International Liver Congress / 46th European Association for the Study of the Liver annual meeting.
Children and adolescents consume more calories and soda and have poorer nutrient-intake on days they eat at either fast-food or full-service restaurants, as compared to days they eat meals at - or from - home.
The incidence of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in women has risen during the period of 1995 to 2007, according to a newly published study by researchers from the Mayo Clinic. This rise in RA follows a 4-decade period of decline and study authors speculate environmental factors such as cigarette smoking, vitamin D deficiency, and lower dose synthetic estrogens in oral contraceptives may be the source of the increase.
