Researchers have uncovered one of these stratagems, showing how cells lacking the tumor suppressor BRCA1 can resume one form of DNA repair, sparing themselves from stagnation or death. The study appears in the January 21st issue of The Journal of Cell Biology.
Toddlers with autism appear more likely to have an enlarged amygdala, a brain area associated with numerous functions, including the processing of faces and emotion, according to a report in the May issue of Archives of General Psychiatry.
A study to be published in the latest issue of The Cochrane Library and led by researchers at the University of Edinburgh and supported by colleagues at the Peninsula Dental School, the University of Ottawa and UCL Eastman Dental Institute, suggests that the treatment of serious gum (periodontal) disease in diabetics with Type 2 diabetes may lower their blood sugar levels.
The potential success rate of root canal treatment affects whether patients would prefer to complete it in one or two visits to the dentist, indicate study results.
CapitalSource, one of the leading commercial lenders in the United States, said today it is providing a $71 million senior loan to Tri-City Medical Center, a 397-bed, acute care hospital serving the North Coastal San Diego region of California.
