An orthopedic surgeon is creating the world's first implantation device that can lengthen the bones of young children internally. The inventor, a physician at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso, expects the device will lead to fewer infections and less pain, making the bone-lengthening process more bearable for children.
Family doctors and psychiatrists should carefully monitor the heart health of patients with anxiety disorders, Dr. Simon Bacon told the Canadian Cardiovascular Congress 2008, co-hosted by the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Canadian Cardiovascular Society. "People with anxiety disorders are four times more likely to develop high blood pressure (hypertension) over one year than those of us who are anxiety free," says Dr. Bacon, a Heart and Stroke Foundation researcher at the Montreal Heart Institute. "Hypertension is a leading risk factor for stroke and heart disease."
IPSOGEN SA today announces that two studies on the Genomic Grade test will be presented at the American Society for Clinical Oncology Annual Meeting, that will take place June 3-7, 2011, in Chicago, Ill, USA.
The decline in cervical cancer is a success story of cancer research. Although there are reasons to be optimistic about even further decreases in cervical cancer incidence, there still remain some women who are not screened.
Simon Fraser University researchers have validated a faster, cheaper COVID-19 test that could kickstart the expansion of more widespread rapid testing. Study results have been published in The Journal of Molecular Diagnostics.
