FOXO1a caused death of tumor cells in laboratory study by triggering expression of caspase-3, which blocks cell division and causes cells to undergo apoptosis, according to St. Jude.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved Eli Lilly's Cymbalta, a balanced and potent serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. Cymbalta is the first and only FDA-approved treatment for pain caused by diabetic peripheral neuropathy.
Researchers at the Cancer Research Laboratory, Methodist Research Institute, Indiana University Health found that a botanical formula for breast health inhibited the growth of estrogen receptor-positive (ER+) human breast cancer cells. More importantly, the researchers also found that the formula enhanced the anti-cancer benefits of the drug tamoxifen in the treatment of breast cancer.
Predictive Biosciences today announced that the Company will be presenting results on the development of a real-time multiplexed PCR assay for detection of FGFR3 mutations in urine and tissue at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) 2011 Genitourinary Cancers Symposium being held February 17 - 19 in Orlando, Florida. Results will also focus on the application of the assay which is currently being used in Predictive's first commercial molecular grading product, the CertNDxTM Molecular Grading Assay.
