A new study has shown that taking high-dose vitamin B supplements over a long period is associated with an increased risk of lung cancer among men.
The latest episode in the American Chemical Society's award-winning podcast series, "Global Challenges/Chemistry Solutions," focuses on new blood test that can quickly tell whether patients are infected with an antibiotic-resistant bacterium that's become a global threat, significantly improving treatment.
Regulus Therapeutics Inc. today announced the publication of new results in the journal Nature Biotechnology by Regulus scientists and collaborators. The new study demonstrated that systemic treatment of a microRNA therapeutic targeting microRNA-10b in tumor-bearing mice inhibits breast cancer metastasis. Cancer-related metastasis is a major cause of mortality and current cancer treatments have limited utility suppressing the metastatic spread of cancer cells. microRNA therapeutics targeting miR-10b represent a promising approach for the discovery and development of a novel anti-metastatic agent.
For the second year in a row, BioTek Instruments was announced as winner of the SelectScience "Scientists' Choice Award for Best Drug Discovery Product". The award was given for BioTek's new Cytation3 Cell Imaging Multi-Mode Reader, and was announced at ELRIG Drug Discovery in Manchester, UK.
