Today at the 45th Annual Meeting & Exhibition of the American Association for Dental Research, researcher Carl Maida, University of California, Los Angeles, USA, will present a study titled "Child and Adolescent Perceptions of Oral Health: Life Course Perspectives." The AADR Annual Meeting is being held in conjunction with the 40th Annual Meeting of the Canadian Association for Dental Research.
A large group of researchers from the United States reported developing an amplification-free CRISPR-based mobile phone assay for direct detection of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) from nasal swabs. Their state-of-the-art paper is currently available on the medRxiv* preprint server.
European hematologists raise the alarm on the insufficient research money for blood disorders. "Blood cancers kill over 95,000 in the EU every year; the EU must be made aware that more research funds are needed", states Professor Robin Foa, President of the European Hematology Association (EHA) at their annual congress in London.
Northeast Florida's Medicaid recipients are making fewer trips to the doctor for chronic illnesses since state officials outsourced the government-subsidized health insurance program to private managed care companies. But it remains unclear from the analysis performed by the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration, which oversees the state's Medicaid program, whether they're healthier for it. Medicaid reform was launched in 2006 in Duval and Broward counties to test whether HMOs could rein in the state's Medicaid spending.
Researchers are scheduled to present Phase I data relating to Semafore Pharmaceuticals' lead product candidate, SF1126, as a treatment for patients with relapsed and refractory myeloma during the 51st American Society of Hematology (ASH) Annual Meeting, December 5 - 8, 2009, at the Ernst N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, LA.
