According to a new study that used data from the National Survey of Family Growth 2006-2015, lesbian women were less likely to report receiving a birth control prescription or birth control counseling compared with heterosexual women.
In a recent study, restricting dietary fat led to body fat loss at a rate 68 percent higher than cutting the same number of carbohydrate calories when adults with obesity ate strictly controlled diets. Carb restriction lowered production of the fat-regulating hormone insulin and increased fat burning as expected, whereas fat restriction had no observed changes in insulin production or fat burning.
Blocking autophagy - the process of "self-eating" within cells - is turning out to be a viable way to enhance the effectiveness of a wide variety of cancer treatments.
An important component of the microscopic machinery that drives cell death has been identified by Walter and Eliza Hall Institute scientists.
