The COSHAR Foundation has enhanced its national immunization awareness campaign, Protecting our Future: The COSHAR Foundation Immunization Project, by updating its free immunization toolkits with new materials, including updated information about autism and vaccines and information on H1N1 flu. The new toolkits are available now.
Patients with gastrointestinal stromal tumours (GIST) can now take action at an earlier stage of this rare form of cancer to reduce the risk of their disease returning following surgery. Novartis Pharmaceuticals Canada announced today that Gleevec* (imatinib mesylate) has received conditional approval by Health Canada for the adjuvant (post-surgical) treatment of adult patients who are at intermediate to high risk of disease recurrence following the surgical removal of GIST.
This alternative approach to creating artificial organic molecules, called bioretrosynthesis, was first proposed four years ago by Brian Bachmann, associate professor of chemistry at Vanderbilt University. Now Bachmann and a team of collaborators report that they have succeeded in using the method to produce the HIV drug didanosine.
If your car needs work on its front and rear axles, it's obviously more convenient, efficient and cost effective to have both repairs done at the same time.
