Sudden, catastrophic childhood epilepsy is a parent's worst nightmare, especially in the case of fever-induced refractory epileptic encephalopathy in school-age children (FIRES). While not much is known about the condition, new research published in the January issue of The Journal of Nuclear Medicine shows that positron emission tomography (PET) scans can offer an evaluation of cognitive dysfunction of FIRES, its evolution and further prognosis.
Osiris Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ: OSIR), announced today that its multi-center, randomized, controlled clinical trial evaluating the safety and effectiveness of Grafix® for the treatment of chronic diabetic foot ulcers has been accepted for podium presentation at the upcoming Symposium on Advanced Wound Care (SAWC) in Las Vegas on Friday, September 27, 2013.
Two independent studies published by Cell Press on January 16, 2020, report that the mechanism by which Zika virus enters brain cells has been identified and even more, exploited to prevent Zika infection and to kill cancer cells instead.
A combined vaccination against Hepatitis C virus (HCV) and HIV moved a step closer, with the results of a study presented at The International Liver Congress 2016 in Barcelona, Spain today.
