A randomized, controlled clinical trial evaluating the safety and efficacy of a treatment regimen of the investigational antiviral remdesivir plus the anti-inflammatory drug baricitinib for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has begun.
Investigators in The Research Institute at Nationwide Children's Hospital have identified the role of a protein that could potentially lead to new clinical treatments to combat musculoskeletal diseases, including Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD).
Professor Michael Booth, co-director of the University of Sydney's Centre for Overweight and Obesity, said teenagers were already showing signs of serious illness caused by their weight.
The Section on Tumors of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and Congress of Neurological Surgeons has announced a $100,000 two-year ($50,000/year) clinical research grant funded by the American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA). The application is open exclusively to neurosurgeons who are members of the AANS/CNS Section on Tumors.
The New York Times reports that young people — representing nearly one-third of the 46 million uninsured in America — stand to "reap substantial benefits" from expanded coverage for them in the new health law.
