A few minutes of counseling in a primary care setting could go a long way toward steering people away from risky drug use - and possibly full-fledged addiction, a UCLA-led study suggests.
U-Systems, the leader in automated breast ultrasound today announced the completion of a pivotal ROC Reader Study for automated breast ultrasound cancer screening. Conducted by University of Chicago, an acclaimed pioneer in women's heath research, the multi-reader, multi-case (MRMC) ROC Reader Study was carried-out to evaluate the sensitivity of somo•v™ Automated Breast Ultrasound (ABUS) together with a screening mammogram in detecting breast cancer in women with dense breast tissue.
"On the Front Line of Change" was the theme of the 14th annual conference of NICHE, held last month in Las Vegas, Nevada. The conference brought together hundreds of nurses, nursing administrators, educators and other healthcare professionals from across the US and Canada, whose shared passion and purpose is to improve the quality of care for hospitalized older adults.
Among older patients with diabetes, those who are overweight or obese may have a lower risk of dying prematurely than their normal weight counterparts. The finding comes from a recent analysis of published studies.
While newly published research confirms that under laboratory circumstances prion-protein can be absorbed across the gut, it also shows that this is unlikely to occur in real life.
