Already in 2014, the German Institute for Quality and Efficiency in Health Care examined in an early benefit assessment whether idelalisib offers advantages over the appropriate comparator therapy for patients with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL).
Indiana University School of Medicine researchers have identified a mechanism used by the tuberculosis bacterium to evade the body's immune system and have identified a compound that blocks the bacterium's ability to survive in the host, which could lead to new drugs to treat tuberculosis.
The drug acyclovir, which suppresses herpes simplex virus-2, does not reduce the risk of HIV transmission when taken by HIV-positive people who also have herpes, according to a study conducted by researchers at the University of Washington, United Press International reports.
