Carnegie Mellon University neuroscientist Marcel Just and Stanford postdoctoral fellow Sashank Varma have put forward a new computational theory of brain function that provides answers to one of the central questions of modern science:
LUMEDX Corporation, a leading provider of vendor-neutral, integrated medical imaging and information systems, today announced that UC Davis Medical Center purchased LUMEDX Apollo structured reporting, analytic and interoperability solutions for their Heart and Vascular Centers. Prior to these purchases, UC Davis Medical Center used the Apollo clinical data repository solely to support cardiac registry participation.
Researchers at Johns Hopkins have established a high-efficiency cell-cell fusion system, providing a new model to study how fusion works. The scientists showed that fusion between two cells is not equal and mutual as some assumed, but, rather, is initiated and driven by one of the fusion partners. The discovery, they say, could lead to improved treatments for muscular dystrophy, since muscle regeneration relies on cell fusion to make muscle fibers that contain hundreds or even thousands of nuclei.
Cordex Pharma, Inc. has announced today that it has filed a formulation patent covering its lead product, ATPace.
Older adults with elevated levels of brain-clogging plaques - but otherwise normal cognition - experience faster mental decline suggestive of Alzheimer's disease, according to a new study led by the Keck School of Medicine of USC that looked at 10 years of data.
