Building upon years of research, a new study from Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) has demonstrated how a specific assessment of the eye could someday help properly diagnosis and monitor concussions.
Even when their tumors are shrinking in response to therapy, some non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients have a scattering of cancer cells that are undeterred by the drug, causing the tumor to resume its growth, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Cancer Center scientists report in the January issue of Cancer Cell.
AMRI today reported financial and operating results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2015. "We are very pleased to present another strong financial quarter, with all our divisions achieving excellent results," said William S. Marth, AMRI's president and chief executive officer. "Notably, recent acquisitions, combined with the cost reduction initiatives and efficiency efforts we've made to date, are contributing to continued strong contract margin performance.
"Cholera cases have risen in Haiti, but the number dying from the disease is down, according to researchers from the [CDC]," CNN's health blog "The Chart" reports. Robert Tauxe, researcher and deputy director at CDC said, "The number of deaths was initially way too high. But within a few weeks of the outbreak, we trained teams to treat the disease and increased access to supplies," according to the blog.
The Particle Science and Technology Laboratory at Southwest Research Institute has expanded its services to include mask testing in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
