Researchers from China recently reviewed the latest advancements, applications, and prospects of virus detection using CRISPR-Cas systems.
"Last week in Washington, D.C., a coalition of global leaders and international organizations launched the Child Survival Call to Action in an effort to drive down the risk of preventable child deaths to roughly equivalent levels in all countries by 2035," Victoria Fan, a research fellow at the Center for Global Development (CGD), writes in this post in the center's "Global Health Policy" blog.
The more than 2,100 officers in the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps who were deployed to the Gulf Coast to respond to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in August and September 2005 lacked adequate training, and the federal response to the hurricanes did not include an adequate number of nurses, dentists and mental health professionals, according to a report recently compiled by the HHS Office of Inspector General, the AP/Houston Chronicle reports.
Warner Chilcott plc today announced that the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved its next generation ACTONEL® (risedronate sodium) product for the treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis in the United States. The product will be marketed as ATELVIA™ (risedronate sodium) delayed-release tablets.
New King's College London research, published today (28 November) in eLife, shows that adults born prematurely - who also suffered small brain injuries around the time of birth - have lower levels of dopamine in the brain.
