The American Academy of Dermatology will present the 2010 Gold Triangle Awards during its 68th Annual Meeting in Miami Beach in early March 2010. Promius Pharma, LLC is one of 49 winners being recognized for excellence in furthering public understanding of dermatologic issues and encouraging healthy behavior in the care of skin, hair and nails.
The development of new, more effective vasodilators to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension has been hampered because of their systemic toxicity and adverse side effects. An international team of investigators seeking to surmount these problems and increase drug efficacy have determined that a vascular homing peptide can selectively target hypertensive pulmonary arteries to boost the pulmonary but not systemic effects of vasodilators. Importantly for potential clinical use, this peptide retains its activity when given sublingually. The results using a rat model of PAH are published in the American Journal of Pathology.
Liberator Medical Holdings, Inc. announced today net revenues of $9.65 million for its second fiscal quarter ended March 31, 2010. Net income for the three months ended March 31, 2010, increased by $161,000, or 169%, to $256,000, compared with net income of $95,000 for the three months ended March 31, 2009.
A University of Adelaide study has found that cancer rates among Australian men involved in the 1950s British nuclear tests are 23% higher than the general population, but has shown no link between the increased cancer rates and exposure to radiation.
The measure is being offered as an amendment to a small-business bill being considered this week. It could be voted on as soon as Wednesday morning and, if passed, go straight to President Obama for his signature.
